Photo by Coast Highway Photo.(San Diego CA) MOXIE Theatre is beginning its Second Smart, Sexy and Surprising Season on November 18, 2006 in true MOXIE fashion; female pirates, a drag queen, soldiers, knife fights and a slowly sinking ship. WET, or ISABELLA THE PIRATE QUEEN ENTERS THE HORSE LATITUDES by Liz Duffy Adams (the playwright of the award-winning MOXIE production DOG ACT). The production runs from Nov 18 - Dec 10, 2006 at The Lyceum Theatre in Horton Plaza. Opening Night is Sunday Nov 19 at 7pm. Members of the press are invited to join MOXIE and the playwright at the pre-show reception beginning at 6pm in the lobby followed by the World Premiere and a talk back with the playwright after the performance!

Female pirates, sailors, and a drag queen; knife fights and blank verse; danger, love and really bad weather. Seven souls find themselves without wind or current on a slowly sinking ship. A theatrical romantic adventure on the high seas, and a liquid narrative on the notion of freedom.

Delicia Turner Sonnenberg directs the cast of seven actors. The actors include: Laurence Brown, Thomas Deák, Jo Anne Glover, Liv Kellgren, Don Loper, Jennifer Eve Thorn and Chris Walsh.

Adams’ Wet, or Isabella The Pirate Queen Enters The Horse Latitudes continues the theme of creating more diverse roles for women in theatre and smart, sexy and surprising theatre which has given MOXIE it’s critical acclaim. Adams’ use of inventive language and sharp humor puts a new spin on the popular pirate theme and examines a war torn world in an unknown time which is sure to give insight into our own.

MOXIE Theatre is a professional non-profit theatre founded by the critically acclaimed group of performers and directors; Delicia Turner Sonnenberg, Jennifer Eve Thorn, Jo Anne Glover and Liv Kellgren, whose mission is to expand the idea of what is feminine by using the intimate art of theatre to explore and celebrate the complexity of ALL human relationships. Billing the theatre as “smart, sexy and surprising,” they are committed to producing provocative and entertaining plays, primarily those written by women that examine strong female themes and create more diverse and honest female images for our culture.
