ANNOUNCES THE 2007/08 WINTER SEASON

AT THE AVO PLAYHOUSE

VISTA , CA – Moonlight Stage Productions has unveiled the upcoming 2007/08 Winter Season to be staged at its downtown Vista venue, the Avo Playhouse.  The intimate, 385-seat theatre will be home to three productions, which include “The Magic Fire,” by Lillian Groag, “Route 66,”a musical revue by Roger Bean and “You Never Can Tell,” by George Bernard Shaw.  The Avo Playhouse is located at 303 Main Street in Vista .

Artistic Director Kathy Brombacher will stage “The Magic Fire” at the Avo on November 1 through 18, 2007.   Set in the early 1950’s, this new play is laced with comedy and pathos as it follows a close-knit Italian-Austrian family of immigrants in Buenos Aires during the reign of Eva and Juan Peron. Structured as a memory play, “The Magic Fire” is written by playwright Lillian Groag, an Associate Artist of the Old Globe Theatre.

In the musical cross-country hit, “Route 66,” four high-energy gas station attendants sing and dance their way from Chicago to California , with musical styles ranging from the Beach Boys to Elvis. This nostalgic trip down Main Street, America is peppered with truckers, cowboys, Mustangs, and “The Little Old Lady from Pasadena .” Written by Roger Bean, “Route 66,” will be staged by Brian Wells and David Brannen, both from San Diego ’s Starlight Musical Theatre, from January 31 through February 24, 2008.

George Bernard Shaw’s romantic comedy, “You Never Can Tell” is the third show of the season.  Set on the English seacoast, the play features the antics of two teen-aged twins, their missing father, a very liberated mother, and a waiter who knows all the things you never can tell. This witty comedy, which takes some mysterious turns, will be directed by Jason Heil at the Avo from March 6 through 23, 2008.
