In it’s 13th year of featuring and supporting San Diego actors, directors, playwrights and producers, the Actors Alliance Festival 2003 promises to be an artistic adventure unrivaled by any other show of its kind in Southern California. Featuring over 100 local actors, 26 local directors, 20 local playwrights, and countless Actors Alliance volunteers, this production boasts 26 plays in 6 performance programs over 2 weeks. Each program consists of three to six 10, 20, and 30 minute pieces getting the opportunity to perform twice. The programs are: “Bizarro Night”- Tues 13th & Fri 16th, “A World in Flux Night”- Sat 17th & Thurs 22nd, “Relationship Night”- Wed May 14th & Tues May 20th, “Kids Night Out”- Sun 18th & Sat 24th, “Musical Night”- Wed 21st, Fri 23rd and “Local Playwrights Night”- Thurs 15th, Sun 25th.

The opening program, “Bizarro Night” pushes the boundaries of conventional theatre by offering an array of cutting edge theatre.  “The Wedding on the Eiffel Tower” by Jean Cocteau features local Equity actors Priscilla Allen and Ron Choularton in this avant-garde, surrealist farce. “Mandingo Interuptus,” the second play of the evening by Los Angeles playwright L.L. Wong tells the story of an African American male who courts disaster as he seeks to exact revenge against his estranged wife through dating white women. These are just two examples of the wonderful theatre you can expect to see at this year’s Festival.

The Festival Pass allows the audience the flexibility to see all six scintillating programs of theatre during the twelve evenings of performance.
