Euripides wildly erotic tale of religion and war

The Bacchae

Translated by Marianne McDonald / Directed by Douglas Lay  

The Dionysus in Euripides' The Bacchae is a young, spiteful god, angry that his mortal family, the royal house of Cadmus has denied him a place of honor as a deity.  Dr. Marianne McDonald has once again provided 6th @ Penn Theatre with an accessible and yet brutal translation of the classic Greek Tragedy.  Douglas Lay , building upon his triumph with Iphigenia at Aulis once again directs with a cast of seasoned actors.  Post-show talkbacks by Dr. McDonald are scheduled for 11/22, 11/25, 12/9, 12/16 & 12/23.
