| Welcome to San Diego
Playbill! Since our birth on March 27, 2000, our sole purpose has been to support the local dramatic arts. We try to do this in a couple of different ways. Our first goal is to give the patrons of the arts, local theatre-goers, easy-to-find theatre information. This makes it easier for people like me to find out what's playing, and hopefully allows theatres to sell a couple more tickets than they otherwise would have. Secondly, we hope to help the local acting community. Our site wants to bring fans and their local actors and actresses closer together. Therefore, we gladly create a page on our site for any local performer who desires one. These pages can include a history of their acting career, a photo, and a biographical sketch. Not only can such publicity make it easier for actors to gain a local following, it also tends to make the theatre experience more enjoyable for the patron if they're more familiar with the artists on the stage. We also hold an annual awards ceremony for the San Diego Playbill "Billie" Awards in which local actors and theatre artists are recognized for their outstanding achievements. Lastly, we are in the on-going process of creating an extensive set of lists and links of drama resources -- a gateway to all San Diego theatre-related websites. This includes websites of local theatres, categorized links of useful Web sites, a local theatre directory, and a directory of local drama schools. If you are in the theatre business, please visit our Theatre Links and Drama Resources page and let me know if you have any suggestions for additions. With all that in mind, your help is needed to make this site truly beneficial to both theatre-goers and theatre actors. If you know of any information that we are missing or is incorrect, please do not hesitate to inform us. We will make every effort to make this the most thorough and accurate site for San Diego theatre information. Any help you give us towards this end will always be greatly appreciated. We happily accept: Suggestions - "The reasonable thing is to learn from those who can teach." --Sophocles Criticisms - "In this light one sees the critic as the real helper of the artist, a torchbearing outrider, the interpreter, the brother..." --Henry James and Compliments - "You like me! You really, really like me!" --Sally Field Thank you for your help! Sincerely, Rob Hopper [E-mail] |
